Homework -

It is expected that homework be completed before coming to school and will be turned in at the beginning of class (unless otherwise noted).  Late and incomplete work will not be accepted and will result in the loss of credit.  No exceptions. The loss of 101 points will be considered in cases where students repeatedly neglect to turn in or complete their homework.

Excused Absences -

Students are expected to turn in and make up all absent work without prompting from the teacher. Students should meet with Ms. Thomas before or after school within two days of their absence to get assistance with absent work. It is not appropriate to use class time to ask for information about missed work.

Students will be given one day for every day absent to turn in their work. If a test is missed, it is the student’s responsibility to schedule a time to make up the missed test on the day s/he returns to school, and every effort to accommodate the teacher’s schedule must be made. Make up tests will be given before or after school, not during class time. If a student fails to schedule time for a make up test or missed assignment due to absence, s/he will be given a zero grade for that test/assignment.

Unexcused Absences -

Please note that BLMS has established policies on excused and unexcused absences. If a student is gone on an unexcused absence, s/he will receive a zero grade for assignments and will be required to make tests up the following day before or after school, or during their lunch period (if possible). Furthermore, any student planning to be gone from school will not be given assignments ahead of time, so it is advisable to keep this policy in mind when making vacation plans. Beaver Lake’s principal, Mr. Almy, can provide additional information on this school-wide policy.

Classroom expectations -

Ms. Thomas' classroom rules:

1.    Be in your seat when class starts.

2.    Do your best. Always.

3.    Show respect for yourself and others.

It is expected that students be active participants in their own educational experience by paying attention and putting for their best efforts in all that they do. Polite, respectful behavior is required at all times. Tardiness, not bringing supplies to class, and any other disruption to the educational process will result in the loss of participation points.
