Classroom Policies Absences No Name papers Late work Academic Integrity Extra Credit
Teachers understand that "life happens". When problems arise, students should come talk to their teacher! We are here to help and work together to make this a fun and successful year!
If you miss class due to an excused absence, you will have the same number of school days as you were absent to make up the work. It is your responsibility to find out what work needs to be made up on the day you return to school. (Check the absent homework binder, then ask you teacher.) If you neglect to inquire about missed work the day you return to school, you will forfeit the opportunity to make up the work for credit. Absences during the course of long term assignments do not alter the due date. If you miss class due to an excused absence on the day of a quiz or exam it is your responsibility to make the necessary arrangements-on the day of your return-to take the exam. Tests not made up on the day you return to school, or at an alternate time scheduled with your teacher, will result in the total loss of points for that exam. Missed homework can be found on my web site. Students are expected to turn in their work in with their name on all papers. During the first trimester, we will put "no name" papers in a file to be claimed by the student. During the second trimester "no name" papers will receive 50% credit when claimed. In the third trimester "no name" papers will be given no credit. All assignments are expected to be turned in on the due date. Failure to do so will result in no credit for the assignment. To help with the transition, in the first trimester students will receive two homework passes to be used as necessary. In the second trimester they will receive one homework pass. In the last trimester the students will receive none. The homework pass allows students ONE extra day to complete the work without loss of credit. Copying another student's work will not be tolerated and will result in a zero for all parties involved as well as loss of 101 points. Plagiarism is defined as taking another person's words and ideas and using them as your own. This includes, but is not limited to, cutting and pasting documents from the web and directly coping of sentences form a text without citing the source used. Extra credit is not offered in 6th grade humanities. Work is expected to be completed on time and to the best of the student's ability. |
