Here is the repertoire and the techniques we are working on in Opus 1, Philharmonia, and Sinfonia for trimester 1 2009..
Opus 1
Beginners will be learning out of the Essential Elements 2000 book at a fast rate. Please make sure you purchase one or have yours from last year. 2nd years will be reviewing and accelerating their basic technique for right hand, left hand and note reading. 2nd years will have sheet music at their level to start working in a 5 part orchestra setting. 1st years will blend in with them some songs for the 1st concert and by December they will be together at the same level. I have a class set of EE book 2 so you don't need to buy one.
Philharmonia
Reinforcing posture, technique, stretching, vibrato, position work. Counting and sight-reading rhythms. Slurring, staccato, spiccato, loure.
Sinfonia
Reinforcing posture, technique, stretching, vibrato, higher position work. Counting and sight-reading rhythms. Advanced bowing styles.
