Daily Homework Assignments:

All homework is due the next day unless otherwise indicated.

Wednesday, September 2:  Complete your bio sheet (due Thursday), select          picture of what makes science exciting for you (picture and write up due Friday).

Thursday, September 3:  Bring picture, purchase and bring a composition notebook to class. Both are due Friday.

Friday, September 4:  No homework.

Tuesday, September 8:  Element Description.  Go to www.periodictable.com and obtain the following information about the your element: 

  1. atomic weight
  2. density
  3.  melting point
  4. boiling point
  5. examples of your element or how it is used and any additional information you would like to  provide

Please record your information in  your composition notebook.  I will check it off as you come into class on Wednesday (do not tear paper out of your notebook).

Thursday, September 17: Mythbusters: Science or Stunts - Watch an episode of Mythbusters and evaluate the science behind the show.  Complete questions on homework sheet.

Tuesday, September 22: Blue graphing exercise due tomorrow

Monday, September 28:  Atmosphere posters 

Tuesday, September 29: Sand, soil and water lab due tomorrow.

 Observation:  Include a labeled diagram of the lab set-up and a written     paragraph containing the statement of the lab goal and three statements about your high and low data for each manipulated variable.

Conclusion:  We conducted this lab to test the heating and cooling rates of _____________________ (manipulated variables).  Our hypothesis was ____________________________________.  Our experiment showed that ___________________ (answer your hypothesis).  The soil temperature increased ___ degrees from ____ degrees Celsius to _____ degrees Celsius. Thursday, October 1: 3 consecutive national weather maps (with weather symbols) pasted in composition notebooks due tomorrow. You can print them from www.weather.gov or from your newspaper.

Wednesday, October 7: Lab 5.1 due

Friday, October 9: Quiz #3

Tuesday, October 13:  Thunderstorm notes due

Thursday, October 15: Lab 7.1 due

Friday, October 16: Log on classroom blog

Friday, October 30:  Thunderstorm papers due (electronically, if possible)

Monday, November 2:  Copy quiz review questions into composition notebook

Tuesday, November 3:  Finish lab 12.2

Thursday, November 5: Study for quiz #5 (can include any question from a previous quiz)

Thursday, November 12: Map with plate boundary information due.  Go to www.geology.com and do a site search for plate boundary map.  Label each red "balloon" on the map in your composition notebook and write description of each plate boundary on a separate page in your composition notebook.

Wednesday, 11/25: Volcano Posters due
